Spot the dog

Happy Christmas everybody. It's Christmas Day today and we're all going round to Lottie's house later on for our Christmas dinner.

Spot the dog. No, not Spot the dog because my name's Poppy but spot the dog. Can you see me? It snowed last week and we have lots of snow in the garden. I went out to see what it was like 'cos it's the first time I've seen snow.

I'll give you a clue. I'm behind the green plant pot, in front of the purple brussel sprout plant. (If you clicky on the picture it will go bigger, then if you clicky again it goes bigger still.) The snow was very soft and very cold and I liked eating it.

Here's me sitting in it:

Well, almost but not quite, it would have made my botty very cold I can tell you! 'Cos I've got such little legs my tummy got really wet.

I wasn't able to go and get my hair cut last week because of the snow so it's getting quite long again, but mom bathed me after I'd been out in the snow (I was a bit of a dirty Gertie, especially my tummy as it's so close to the ground) and she's brushing me every day so I look nice and fluffy.

This is me after I was bathed and brushed:

I haven't been able to go out for a walk 'cos there's lots of ice about and our house is on a slope and mom can't get down without slipping. The beach is all covered in snow too:

I'm looking forward to going back to the beach when the ice has gone.

I've been really good since I last wrote to you. I now walk nicely on my lead, as long as it's the long extending one but mom has to shorten it when we're walking by the road and then I walk by her. I even get all excited when mom gets her coat and shoes ready to go out, she said she never thought she'd see the day - ha ha! And I'm allowed off the lead to run on the beach because I've learnt to come back when I'm called or mom blows the whistle (there's usually a little treat for me when I go back!). I'm only allowed to run free when there are no other dogs about. I was really scared a few weeks ago, we were walking on the beach and I was on the lead and a naughty Jack Russell ran up and attacked me. Mom picked me up and we walked away and then further down from behind the sand dunes there was another Jack Russell that did the same. I was really scared and wanted to go home, I kept looking behind to make sure there were no more dogs and it took a few days for me to feel safe again.

I think I'll go now 'cos it's snooze time. Thank you for coming to see me. Please come back again.

Special Christmassy licky kisses to you.

Beauty and the Beast

Hello again lovely peeps. I had to have my hair cut again today. I thought you might want to see this.

This was me this morning:

Then I went outside in the rain, only for a minute!

Wicked or what!!

So I went and had my hair cut and came back like this:

Do you think I look cute? Mom says I go to the hairdressers more often than she does!

I don't look quite that tidy now as Lottie has been here for a few hours while her humans went shopping and we did a lot of chasing each other around. We couldn't go out for a run on the beach 'cos it's been raining all day and really horrible.

That's all I've got to tell you today, just thought you'd like to see the photos.

Bye for now, sloppy kisses xxx

I'm ticked off!

Seriously ticked off!

Get it? Ticked off - tick -ha ha! Can you see the tick just above my eye? I must have got that when I was running through the sand dunes yesterday. 'Cos Mom didn't know what it was (she thought it was a wart) I had to go to see Vet Lady today (she was ever so nice but I was dithering 'cos I was a bit scared). She got the tick out and it didn't hurt and she showed Mom how to get them out if I have any more. We got a special tick getter outer tool. I got some liver treats for being a good girl. I got weighed too. I now weigh 4kg, that's twice what I was when I came to live with my humans. Then we went a long walk by the river which was nice 'cos I'd not been before and there were lots of new smells for me, that was fun.

I haven't been to talk to you for ages have I? Did you miss me? I've missed you. Do you want to know what's been happening?

Well, we had to take my sister Lottie to get her hair cut. This is her before (Mom said she looked like a yeti!):

And this is her when she came back (I'm ignoring her, my chewy stick is more interesting):

It didn't take us long to scruff her up again:

I nearly forgot to tell you that I went to school a couple of weeks ago. Mom and Dad thought it would be nice for me to meet other dogs and to learn new things. I was a bit scared because there were about a dozen dogs there and there was only one my size, all the others were big dogs. We walked round in a circle, turned round and walked the other way. Then we practised sitting down. They didn't tell us we had to take a toy to throw and fetch so that didn't go too well. And I couldn't get the hang of 'Down' where you have to lie down on the floor. Mom and Dad didn't really like the lady very much, she expected us to know what to do without telling us even though we were new and she never smiled once all the time we were there. We don't like unsmiley people! Mom and Dad said we're not going back 'cos we're doing OK at home and I meet lots of doggie friends on the beach.

Anyway, I could already to Sit, Stay and Come and now Mom has taught me how to come back to a whistle. We go for a run on the beach or by the fields and as long as we're far enough away from the road I am let off my lead so I can have a little run on my own. Then Mom blows the whistle twice and I run back to her and get either some cheese or some liver. I get cheeky sometimes and just sit there and don't bother having a run on my own. I know Mom will blow the whistle eventually so I just sit there until she does then I can run and get a treat - good eh? I sometimes prefer to have my lead on anyway, it makes me feel safe.

Did I tell you I am now good at walking on my lead? I don't like my short lead but Mom now uses my extending lead and once that's on I'll walk. She keeps it short if we're by the road but when we're on the promenade or away from the road she lets the lead out and I can go and sniff where I like. I go for lots of walks but mainly on the beach, that's fun.

Would you like to see a picture of me smiling? Here you are:

'Scuse the mucky mouth. Oh, talking about mucky, my ears are a bit gunky again. Vet lady had a look today and said they looked a bit red inside and one was a bit stinky so I've got to have those ear drops again - yuk! I don't like having those. I have fluff inside my ears which has to come out (ouch!) and when I have my hair cut the lady does that for me, she couldn't do it all at once so she's doing it a bit at a time so's not to upset me.

I don't think I've got anything else to tell you this time. I'll try not to leave it so long next time. Please come back and see me again.

Sending you lots of slobbery licky kisses.

I've been to the hairdressers!

I've had a really exciting day but it was a bit scary at first.

Mom and dad said I needed a hair cut. This was the first time I'd had my hair cut. I like my hair long but it needs brushing every day and sometimes it gets a bit knotted up 'cos it's quite curly, especially if I go out in the rain. I like having my hair brushed but not the knotty bits.

This is what I looked like this morning:

We drove a few minutes up the road to see Julie and she was lovely. She said 'Hello sweetheart, aren't you lovely' (well, I am, aren't I?) then she took me in her arms and cuddled me. We had lots of cuddles and talking. Then I had to say goodbye to mom and dad.

Julie brushed me and bathed me, then she dried me and cut my hair. As I'm only a baby she didn't take a lot off, she cut my hair with some scissors and left me all nice and fluffy and clean. She cut my toe nails too but said there wasn't much to take off. Mom and dad came back a bit later and said I looked lovely. What do you think?

I had to go and show my haircut to my human friends then I went home and was really tired so had a little snoozle in my cubby hole by the computer.

Neil and Tracy came round so I got up to show them my haircut and they said it was nice and they've booked Lottie in to have hers cut next week. I'll have to tell her that there's nothing to be frightened of and she'll like the cuddles and will feel lovely when it's been done.

I hope you like my pictures. Thank you for coming to see me.

I was only trying to help..............

Help with the gardening, that is.

It was sunny and warm today so mom and dad went out into the garden. I thought I'd give them a hand.

I think my contribution was really appreciated, don't you?

Wassup????????? Is this not a good look?

I was threatened with a bath but lucky for me I looked pretty clean after I was brushed:

I went out with my sister Lottie today, and the big dog she lives with Sally (I like Sally, she's always pleased to see me but doesn't jump on me like Lottie does, probably because she knows she's bigger).

Here's Tracy holding me and Lottie - I'm the one with the red lead. Neil is holding Sally. Neil is my humans' son and Tracy their d-i-l. Can you see the wet patch by Tracy's feet - that's my little "I'm so happy to see you" dribble! I only save happy dribbles for the people I love most.

This is Lottie saying "Bye, see you later", I was too busy talking to Sally:

You'll never guess where we went - go on have a try! Nope - told you that you'd not know. We went on the beach! It was the first time I'd been on the beach and I loved it. I wanted to roll in the sand but Tracy said I couldn't. Now that probably would mean I'd have a bath. Never mind, I can do it another day.

Oh, and yesterday we went a long drive to the shops. I lasted 1 hour 15 minutes before I was sick. That's good 'cos we'd almost arrived. My previous record is about 35 minutes. I was only sick on the way there. We only went to three shops and the last one was Pets At Home and I had some doggie chocs and a windey-in long lead so I can go and wander when we walk in the woods. Then we came home. I wasn't sick on the way home, I slept all the way.

Gotta go now, mom has got to make the tea. I get my tea when they have theirs and it's yummy.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my pictures. See you soon.

Helloooooooo.............

Well, would you look at that! It's nearly two weeks since I came to talk to you and I don't know where the time has gone. Lots of things have happened. Do you want to hear about them?

Well, first of all, I can now go out as I've finished my injections. I don't like having my collar and lead put on though, I go and hide but always get found.

Can you see me in this next one? I think I nearly pulled it off!

Once I'm outside I quite like going for a walk. There's lots of things to stop and sniff but I'm not sure I like lots of people and the traffic. Mom says it will be quieter soon when people don't come for their holidays any more. I think I'll like it better when it's quieter. I don't pull on my lead but Mom says I've got to learn to stay on one side and not just wander all over the place. I told her I'm still a baby and have a lot to learn.

She was going to take me to the socialisation and vet friendly class at Mr Vets but when she rung up to book me in there were no other dogs booked in. There wasn't really much point in going if it was only me was there, there would be no socialising with other dogs would there? They said they would ring when someone else books in. I'll like that 'cos I like to see other dogs. Especially Lottie. She's been round to play loads of times. This is Lottie and me playing under the chair:

I don't think we'll be able to fit under there much longer! We're getting big now.

This is Lottie when she was 8 weeks old, lying on her mom's lap (her mom's only titchy!):

And this is me on my mom's lap the other day (five weeks later):

Oh, do you want to know why I was like that on mom's lap? Well, we went out in the car (I was sick again, yuk!) and while dad was in the shop mom walked me round the car park. When I got home I was chewing my foot and mom had a look and I'd trodden in some chewing gum and it was all stuck between my toes! How yukky is that - it's worse than being sick. It took mom an hour to try and get the chewing gum out. She had to pull out as much as she could and then she had to cut all the fur right down on my feet and between my toes. She was ever so gentle and careful, and I ended up going to sleep while she was doing it.

I've got a new garden now too. The men came and took the old walls and slabs away and put down this nice new one. Here's me checking out that they'd done it properly:

This is how big it is, there's lots of room for me to wander round but I'm not allowed to go out there on my own, someone has to be with me so I don't eat anything I shouldn't:

I went in the car again today, only a short ride (to try and get me used to the car and not be sick). We went just 5 minutes up the road to where there's a picnic area and then some woods. It was too muddy in the woods so I just played in the picnic field but the grass was all wet and I got a bit mucky, especially my tummy as my legs are only little. I've been brushed now so I'm all clean and tidy again but I'm pooped! I feel a big snoozle coming on so I'm going now. Thank you for coming, see you soon.

I've had a busy week!

Hello lovely people, it seems ages since I came to talk to you. Did you think I'd forgotten you? It's been ever so busy here. First of all Jessica and Jack came with their mommy Deborah for a couple of days. Jessica doesn't really like dogs but me being so cute, little and fluffy I managed to get her to stroke me by the time she left. She still doesn't like dogs but I think she likes me just a little bit. Jack played with me a lot, he doesn't mind dogs. Deborah (she's my humans' daughter) liked me and talked nice to me and stroked me.

Then on Sunday Lottie came round to play. This is me greeting her at the gate:

I'm the one with my back (bottom ha ha) to the camera, you can see Lottie's face. Then we caught up with the latest news:

Then we had a chewy stick each:

Lottie thought mine must taste better so she pinched it off me. It didn't matter 'cos I then pinched hers:

On Monday some men came to dig up the garden and make it nice with some new paving. They're still here so I'll show you some pictures when they've finished. But I had a nice present:

It's a knotted rope and it's lovely. I can shake it and chew it and run round the room with it in my mouth. Mom wont let me chew the rugs or the chairs or any shoes so it's nice to have this to chew instead.

Lottie came again today. It's not rained today so we played in the yard for a bit and then she checked out my bedroom:

We both fitted in but didn't stay there for long:

We had a little run round the room. Can you see Tilly the cat on the chair? She said she thought she was seeing double and that one white bouncy ball of fluff is enough!

I asked Lottie if she wanted to share a chewy stick:

She said "No, it's mine, get your own". What a cheek, this is my house and it was my chewy stick!

But I gave her a kiss before she left 'cos she's my sister and I love her:

Then this afternoon I had to go and see Mr Vet for my second injection. I went in the car and I was a little bit sick on the way. Mr Vet looked in my ears and said they were a lot better and I didn't have to have the drops any more. Then he stuck the needle in my neck again like last time but I was really good and quiet and mommy cuddled me. I haven't got to go any more, I'm really glad about that. Mr Vet said I can go out in about 10 days so I suppose I'd better learn to like my lead. I was sick again in the car on the way back. There wasn't any carrots in it 'cos I didn't have carrots today only my Eukanuba for breakfast so it wasn't very much but mom had to wash my blanket. Oh, I forgot to say that my crate was put in the car and I travelled in there to keep me safe. It had my blanket in, that's where I was sick.

I was very quiet when I came back, I slept for a long time 'cos of my upset tummy and the needle but I'm OK again now. I've had my tea and a little play.

Phew, that was a lot to tell you. Bet you're fed up of me now aren't you. Thank you for coming, see you soon.

I'm a mucky pup!

Actually I was called a mucky pup scruff bag! Pretty good eh?

My ears are messy 'cos the gunk the vet said I had has been coming out all week. I think my coat's getting a bit long too and goes all wavy even though I have it brushed every day.

Anyway, now that my ear drops have finished and my ears are nice and clean inside my humans said I needed a bath to make me look better. Flippin 'eck, I only had one last week! So I sat there and was quite good but I didn't really like it, I shivered a bit just to let mom know I wasn't too happy. Anyway it was soon over and I got dried and brushed and now I'm clean again.

What do you think? I was very sneaky and went outside in the yard and found a leaf to play with to mucky up my mouth again - ha ha ha! My ears aren't still properly nice and fluffy, mom says it was hard to wash them properly.

I've got some new visitors coming to see me today and stay for a few days. Jessica and Jack are coming to see their nanny and grandad and their mommy is bringing them. It will be nice to see some new humans.

Gotta go now, giraffey wants to play. Thank you for coming. See you soon.

I thought I'd re-arrange my bedroom!

Do you remember how my humans bought me that lovely pink blanket when I first came home? Well, when I first see them in the morning and do my special little happy dance for them, oooh this is a bit embarrassing ......... well I do a little dribble, you know, like I'm only little and I can't hold it, especially when I get excited. So my mommy thought she'd save the nice pink blanket for when I'm a bit older and go back to the blanket I brought with me, the one which has my doggie mom's smell on. Well, actually it's been washed since then but it's that one anyway.

But that's got nothing to do with re-arranging my bedroom, I just thought I'd tell you that 'cos I'm sure you're wondering why I've got a yellow blanket now when I had a pink one before.

Anyway, after trying different positions like this:

I decided that the yellow one isn't as soft as the pink one so I thought I'd try and do something about it. Maybe shake it up a bit.

I was just about to start when what did I find? Well, just look at this!

Another blummin' cat! What is it here? Cats on mom's apron, cats on my blanket, and even a cat that lives here who despite all my efforts still doesn't really want to be friends.

So I pushed the yellow blanket out of the way with my nose, then tried to puff the cat one up a bit. I didn't get any help you know, they just sat there watching me struggle!

It was quite tiring, I had to have a little rest half way through:

(Sorry about the stuff on top, I've got gunky ears according to the vet so I've got some ear drops and cotton wool balls to wipe them clean.)

Anyway, this is what I ended up with:

What d'ya think? I tried it out but I'm not so sure now.

Mommy says I'm a little bigger, do you think I've grown already? Or did she say something about a bug? I'm a little bug? No, can't be, I'm a puppy aren't I?

Gotta go now, it's nearly time for bed.
