Have you ever been to Hossypital?

My Dad is in the hossypital, he's been away for 6 weeks now and I miss him. He first went to the big hossypital but 3 weeks ago he came nearer home to the little one and I'm allowed to go and see him. I don't really like to go in the car but it's only 20 minutes away and when we get there I know the way to the room where he is and Mom drops my lead and I run into the room all excited.

We went today and me and Dad had cuddles:

He has to go back to the big hossypital tomorrow for some treatment and should be back on Thursday so I can go and see him again.

I've got some new shampoo and had a bath on Saturday 'cos I was real mucky and full of sand. Mom said I smelled delicious and my fur is all soft and shiney and she wouldn't let me go and play on the beach until Dad had seen me all clean and fluffy today. Anyway, I've had my tea and we're going out soon and Mom has promised me I can go and chase my ball on the beach - yippee!

I haven't got anything else to tell you this time, we haven't been anywhere very exciting but I'm hoping to go to the woods again soon. Oh, I did go to see the Vet Lady and she looked at me all over and made sure everything works properly then stuck a needle in my neck. Didn't hurt though and she said I was a really good girl - she didn't see what I brought up in the back of the car though!!!!!!!!! Not my fault, honest, the Vets is an hour away in the car and my tummy really, really doesn't like going for a long drive.

Gotta go now, Mom's waiting to take me to the beach.

Sloppy kisses X X X

Holly made me do it - honest!

What an exciting morning I've had! We went to the beach and in the distance I could see Tia, she always comes running over to say hello so Mom let me off the lead and we ran off to play. I had my ball with me and let Tia play with it, then when she dropped it I picked it up and ran away with it and she would chase me. It was really good fun.

Then we saw Sandy and Frank so ran over to play with them. Frank got the ball then we were all playing together and running around.

Then out of nowhere Holly came. I haven't seen Holly for about 4 weeks so it was really nice. Do you remember me telling you what Holly's favourite thing is? THE SEA! So Holly got my ball and ran off to have a paddle (she's a big dog) and I ran after her (I'm little) and we were splashing about in the sea having a real good time. Holly got her feet wet, I got me wet! The others didn't join us, just me and Holly. Mom called me back (I went after a while, she had to call me a few times, ha ha!) but Holly stayed for a bit longer. When she got back she hadn't got my ball, she'd dropped it in the sea - boo hoo, I've lost my ball. Never mind, it's one I found on the beach anyway ha ha!

We all had another run around in the sand, that would have made a really nice photo but Mom didn't have the camera with her. Then Frank went to the shops with his Dad, Tia, Sandy and Holly walked along the prom to go home and Mom and I crossed the road, walked across the car park to our house.

Now I'm not sure why but Mom says I'm a Dirty Gertie (I don't get that 'cos my name's Poppy) and says when I am dry she's gonna have a job getting all the sand and tangles out of my coat. What do you think:

My bed's all wet and covered in sand, Mom put a couple of towels on it but I kept chewing them so she took them off again. I'm really tired now so I'm having a snoozle before Auntie Angie comes for a cuppa and a natter with my Mom. I get cuddles off Auntie Angie. I hope she likes wet cuddles!

Mom says I smell like wet dog. I'm not sure what she thinks I ought to smell like. She said something about going to the groomers at the end of the week as well. I don't know, the things we dogs have to put up with.

See you soon. Licky licks and wet kisses.

Have you missed me, lovely peeps?

Helloooo humans and fellow doggies. Did you think I'd got lost? I know, I know. My silly Mom keeps forgetting to take the camera out when we go to the beach and the woods. She said she'll try harder so she took the camera today, only trouble is my regular doggie playmates weren't there - sad face!

So, what have I been doing? Not a lot really, you know I don't go very far in the car 'cos I's always sick but we've had lots of visitors ('cos Dad's poorly and we can't get to see them). Anyway, Mom and Dad's daughter Deborah is coming to see us as many weekends as she can and that's nice as she comes on our walks.

We've had some really warm weather and I don't like it very much, I get too hot and it makes me tired and I pant a lot. But I've got lots of water in my fountain which is nice. And you know that I live at the seaside and there's lots and lots of people here who only come for a little while and then go home again. I don't like this many people, it's too noisy and busy, and I get scared of the little people with short legs who go "Oooh, look at the little doggie". Mom says I have to be brave and just walk on but we don't go out in the middle of the day when all these people are around, especially when it's hot.

So when Mom gets up we go to the beach nearly every day and meet up with my three favourite friends - Tia (Samoyed), Sandy (Corgie/Terrier cross) and Holly (big cross breed). Tia barks when she sees me and we run towards each other and she says "Come on Poppy, lets go and play". Sandy loves his ball and when his mom throws it I can run faster and get to it first then I walk with in my mouth and go "Ha, ha, I got it now". Holly loves to go in the sea and I love to go in with her. When we were coming off the beach the other day there was a puddle, Tia went paddling so I went with her, the puddle came up to Tia's ankles and I stood beside her and the water came all the way over me - bit of a shock that was and Mom was like "Oh no Poppy, what a mess". Well, I was a bit like a drowned rat (a photo would be good wouldn't it - see, will have to get Mom trained better) and had to have a bath when we got home. I don't mind the bath really but I don't like the hair dryer and Mom says I have to be dried or my fur goes curly and tangled and that's not good.

We go out about 8 o'clock in the evenings when it's cooler and not so many people on the beach, but sometimes we just have a walk. Dad comes with us in the evening. The last few evenings we saw a horse, no a donkey, oh no, it was a Great Dane called Tyler. Crikey he was big. He bent down so we could sniff noses and his head was almost as big as me!!!! Anyway, we liked each other and then, as doggies do, he sniffed my botty and I went to sniff his and I couldn't reach, now that's not fair! Anyway, we played for a little bit and then he went back to his human.

Yesterday we went to the woods. That's only ten minutes in the car. It was lovely, all shady and cool and lots of different smells for me. It was very quiet, we only met two people who were walking and then a man and his big Labrador. I was plum tuckered out when we got back so I did a bit of this:

and this:

Do you like noses? My Mom likes noses so she took this:

Mom says I was at the back of the queue when they gave noses out 'cos Bichon noses should be black but mine has got a lot of pink. Lottie's nose is all black. Do you remember Lottie, she's my sister, well I'm not surprised she got a black one 'cos she's braver than me so she probably pushed to the front of the queue.

OK now, that's enough, go away and let me snoozle:

So today it's much cooler, we had some rain earlier on and then we went on the beach to see my friends. They didn't come this morning, I think we must have been too early. But I did meet up with Pip and her man Ian. They live on a boat and are here nearly all the time ('cept in the winter 'cos it's too cold then, they live in a caravan then). Pippa is nuts, she's a Springer Spaniel and she NEVER stops, always running around and barking, but she's nice to play with 'till she gets too rough.

This is me and Pip on the beach this morning:

And I came back when Mom called:

She said I was really good coming back 'cos I've been a bit of a bugga lately, that's 'cos I ran off and hid in the sand dunes and wouldn't come back when she whistled and called. She said she nearly had heart failure and that I mustn't do it again. I thought it was funny myself!

Then we went home and I did a bit of the old Zzzzzzzzzzzzz (I love a good snoozle):

The sand was a bit wet and Pip kept knocking me over so I got all damp and mucky, my fur needs brushing out when it's dry, it's quite curly now but I'll look like a cotton wool ball when I've been brushed. I wont keep it like that for long though, ha ha.

Mom says I seem to have a dose of verbal diary, erm..... diaree, erm.... diarooney, err, verbal poo (people keep leaving doggie poo on the beach, not nice is it, Mom says it's not nice when I eat it either!). Anyway she says I gotta go now.

I'll try to come back soon and remember to take photos.

Woofs and licky kisses to you all.

My Daddy drove a steam train!

It was Father's Day on Sunday and Neil and Tracy (my humans' son and d-i-l) arranged a special surprise. Daddy's very poorly and he said he wanted to go on the Welsh Highland Railway while he can. It's a long journey on that one which takes two and three quarter hours to get from Porthmadog to Caernarfon and they thought it was too long. So instead they chose the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway which is only a short journey and you get off and look around the engine shed and have a ride on a miniature railway too.

And guess what they did???????? They got a footplate pass so Daddy and Neil could go in the engine with the driver. They put on the big engine called Gelert specially so there was room for both of them to go in. They were so excited and they kept blowing the whistle!

I was allowed to go too, they allow dogs on the train. We took the camera but Daddy took all the photos so we haven't got one of him.

This is us talking to the ticket collector:

Neil at the front of the picture; Mommy in the blue coat with me; Luke in the camouflage jacket; Molly next to Luke; Tracy in front of Mommy; (not sure where Daniel is):

Here is Tracy, Molly, Mommy and me, and Luke standing in the doorway of the carriage:

This is Gelert the engine, it went backwards for the first part of the journey:

Here I am with Mommy and Daniel (he was making a silly face!):

Neil talking to us before they went off to help drive the engine:

A rare photo of Tracy 'cos she doesn't like having her photo taken:

This is Gelert with the drivers ready to go back to the station, it was going the right way this time:

We had two rides on the train so that Daddy and Neil could be passengers as well as drivers' mates.

I had a really nice time on the train and every one said I was a really good girl. I hope you like our pictures. Neil took some as well so if we can get them we might have one of Daddy that I can put on my blog.

Happy Burfday to Me ...........

Oooh, I's so excited......... today is my burfday and I am one whole year old!

I had some pressies, wanna see?

I had a lion with 19 squeakers (I like squeakers) off Daddy (well, his credit card paid for it!), Mommy bought me a bubble wand and the bully sticks (don't ask - you'll have to google them!) and some sea jerky. Then Auntie Angie bought me the doggie with two heads and a tinkly bell inside.

I've spent most of the day so far eating one of the bully sticks:

And here's my doggie:

And my lion:

And we went into the garden to play with the bubbles:

Daddy's going to make me some liver cake later on but he's busy in the storeroom at the moment swearing and making a noise 'cos he's making room for a freezer. I don't know what some of the words mean but they sound naughty!

I hope you get nice things for your burfday.

I gotta go now 'cos eating that bully stick has made me really tired and I have to get my energy back so I can go on the beach later.

Thank you for coming to see me on my burfday. Gonna snoozle now. Licks and kisses.

Do you want to see what I had for tea?

Hello humans and doggie friends. I've just remembered that I promised you I would show you what I get to eat now.

I used to eat Naturediet and it was very nice but I never used to sit and wait for it, I always had to be called but I did eat it all. Now I have raw food and oh my! it's so yummy. You have to have a balanced diet so for my breakfast I have special minced meats that comes with bones and offal added. Then for my tea I have either meaty bones or meaty chunks or sardines or mackerel. I also have some blended veggies, Mom puts them in the whizzer and they get chopped up really small and I have carrots, swede, parsnips, green beans, mange tout. There are other veggies I can have, it just depends on what Mom gets. Sometimes I also get an egg or some natural live yoghurt. I don't have to be called for my meals any more, I sit and wait at Mom or Dad's feet while they put it in my dish. And I have two drawers in the freezer just for my food.

Here is one of the drawers:

Inside there are my special minced meats which are chicken; rabbit; duck; turkey; chicken and tripe; lamb and some tripe. There is also a big bag of chicken portions and my veggies are in there too.

This is my turkey mince and veggie breakfast:

and tonight I had chicken chunks with some tripe and veggies:

These are my chicken portions:

Pulling the meat off the bones and crunching the bones keep my teeth all sparkly and white and I don't have to have them cleaned.

I love my food. Would you like to come and have tea with me sometime?

It's my first birthday at the end of the month, Mom says she doesn't know where the time has gone. I don't know either but then I don't know what time is. She says she got me a special present that I will really like. Do you want to come back and see what I get? I'll get Mom to take a photo and then I can show you. I hope you'll come back and see me on my birthday.

Woofs and licks.

Do you like being out in the rain?

Just thought I'd ask if you like being in the rain. I don't mind a bit of rain but tonight Mom and I were walking, it was nice and sunny when we went out but then it went dark and it rained really heavy like hail stones. It was bouncing off the floor and I got soaked, it frightened me and I ran all the way home.

But I don't mind getting wet when I go in the sea:

Got myself into a bit of a mess didn't I, LOL!!! It was great fun. I went to the beach with my sister Lottie and Sally the Labradoodle (they belong to my Mom's son) and Sally ran into the sea and Lottie and I ran after her. Lottie chickened out a bit and didn't go in very far but I ran right in and jumped over the waves and everything. Mom kept blowing the whistle for me to go back but I pretended I was deaf and ignored her. Then when I got out of the water I lay down in the sand and got really mucky ha ha!

There was only one thing that spoiled it. When we got home I was dripping wet and very dirty and Mom gave me a bath then dried me. I looked all nice and fluffy and clean after though:

Mom said that was better. I did feel nice but I had so much fun in the sea I went back and did it again the next day when I went out to play with Lottie and Sally again ha ha!

Then when I went to the beach this morning (just me and the humans) I chased some seagulls and ended up in the sea again. So that's twice I got wet today. Mom said something about giving me another bath tomorrow. I think I may have to go and hide.

Now would you like to see a present I had the other day? It's a water fountain. I've always liked drinking from taps and the hosepipe, and when Mom fills the birdbath and it overflows I like to catch the water so she got me one of these:

I wasn't quite sure what it was at first. It made a funny trickling sound so I just watched it for a bit. Then I went over to have a closer look:

It seemed alright so I had a sniff:

And then I had a taste:

It's really nice to drink running water, I love my water fountain. I let Tilly the cat drink from it but she only drinks from the bowl at the bottom not the waterfall, she's silly!

I'll have to go now because it's my bedtime. I have to get up early and bark to let Mom and Dad know that it's light 'cos the sun comes out earlier in the morning now. Dad really likes getting up at 5.30am but some days I let him lie in until 6.30am.

Woofs and licks X

If you go down to the woods today

You wont believe what you see
Lots of lovely bluebells
And gorgeous little me!

Hello lovely humans, I want to tell you about what I did today.

Well, we've had lots of wind the last couple of days and today it was really gusty winds all day. We normally go to the beach and I have a lovely run but it was so windy it was like a sandstorm. When it's like that it gets in your hair and your mouth and your eyes so we couldn't go there today. So we went to the woods instead, only 10 minutes in the car (no, I wasn't sick, I can do 10 minutes) and it was full of bluebells. Don't forget to clicky on the pictures if you want to see them bigger:

Isn't that pretty? And they smelled nice too. Want to see some more?

This is where we started off, Mom is in front. She didn't really need her coat as it was so sheltered and warm but she found the pockets useful for my treats and lead and stuff. Can you see my harness? I hate it. I refuse to walk with it on and just lie down. Mom keeps trying every so often but I prefer my collar so I'm not going anywhere with my harness on. I lay down just after this photo was taken and let them go on without me. They soon gave up and came back and took it off:

Here I am with Dad. Can you see the little stream, there were lots of bluebells on the other side:

Dad playing hide and seek but I found him:

I paddled across the stream:

Come on Mom, hurry up:

I was snuffling in all the leaves and ended up with them all over my face and ears:

I also found some dog poo and ate it. Mom said "Drop it" but I wouldn't and I ran away with it. She wouldn't let me kiss her later on, I wonder why? Anyway, she said I had a stinky bum tonight - I wondered what the smell was 'cos I've never pop-popped before. They had to open the window and door and light a candle. Perhaps I'd better not eat any more, I don't think I was too popular tonight.

It's still really windy now so I didn't get to the beach tonight either, we went to the nature reserve instead 'cos there's no sand there. I hope I can go back to the beach tomorrow.

Come back soon, I want to tell you all about my new food.

Woofs and puppy cuddles.

What a tiring day!

The weather has been really lovely here today so we went for a really loooooooong walk in the woods this morning. The bluebells aren't out yet but there are squillions of dead leaves and they make lovely rustly sounds when you run through them.

We walked round to get to the car - I don't like going in the car and when I saw it I plonked my botty on the ground and thought "No way - it's Friday and there's the car", the last two Fridays we've gone out in the car and I ended up at the vets. There was no way I wanted to go again today. Well I did walk to the car eventually but I made Mom and Dad wait for me! Anyway, we turned left out of the road instead of right so I knew it wasn't the vets.

It took ten minutes to drive to the woods (oh goody - not enough time to be sick!) then five minutes walk and there we were. Acres and acres for me to run and sniff, I didn't meet any dogs today, it was just us. I also had a paddle in the stream and had a lovely drink from it, it was nice and cool and tasted lovely. Silly Mom and Dad didn't take the camera, I'll tell them to take it next time.

We walked in the woods for about 45 minutes then started to walk back. On the last little bit where the path joins the lane, guess what I did? Bet you can't! I saw some horse poo and tasted it - ha ha, Mom said I was a dirty girl. Then as we walked down the lane I went on the grass verge and found a sticky dog poo and wiped my face in it. The humans weren't too please about that I can tell you! Mom said "Bath for you when we get home" and she meant it too!

So I had a bath, was quite good being washed, but I don't really like the hairdryer so played up a bit then. After I was dried I was really really pooped so I jumped up on my special little bed that goes on the sofa and had a really big snoozle in the sun.

Hey, did you see my operation scar? It's one week since my stitches came out and two and a half weeks since my operation. It's looking quite neat don't you think? Here's a closer photo.

If you clicky on the photo it makes it bigger and you can see better. Do you like my spotty tummy?

We went for a walk on the beach tonight, there was a sea mist so it was a bit cold and you couldn't see very far. We were out for 45 minutes and it was dark when we got back.

I've had a busy day and I'm tired now so I think I might go to bed.

Night night, licky kisses (I don't smell of horse poo now!).

Saturday, April 2, 2011

Woo hoo! I've had my stitches out!

I had to go back to the vets yesterday, I really didn't want to go in there but I'm glad I did as I had my stitches out. It didn't hurt and I feel so much better now 'cos they were a bit tight. I still have stitches inside my tummy but they will dissolve. Wanna see my tummy?

Can you see where the stitches were? Mom asked the vet if I could run around again now and she said yes, even at 90mph on the beach - yay! She said I could even skateboard if I wanted to - now that's really silly 'cos I've only just learned to ride my bike and I haven't got a skateboard yet - ha ha! And guess what I did on the way back - I was sick (yuk). Even though I had half a ginger root capsule! I wasn't sick on the way there so that was good 'cos it's nearly an hour's drive away but I really couldn't help it on the way back.

So I went to the beach this morning, there were quite a few people and dogs there but I met up with my friend Ruby (she's a Cavalier King Charles spaniel and she's really tiny) and we had a little play and run around together. I didn't run and play as much as I normally do, I think my inside stitches are making me a bit uncomfortable. I played a bit then lay down, then walked a bit and lay down, then played a bit more. On the walk back home I met a Jack Russell Terrier and we sniffed noses but he barked at me, that wasn't nice was it? I had a lovely long snooze when I got back.

Oooh, I gotta go, Dad wants to play, I suppose I'd better go and keep him amused!

Cuddles and licky kisses to you. Thank you for coming to see me.
